UniChef.com
is proud to feature the time honored craftsmanship
of J.A. Henckels.

Founded in 1731, the J.A. Henckels company
is not only one of the world's oldest cutlery
manufacturers, it's also one of the most
well respected, creating best-selling knives
guaranteed to last a lifetime. |
The Henckels brand name evokes an image of sleek, high-quality
kitchen knives--not manicure accouterments,
hairdressing scissors, wall brackets, garlic
presses, or champagne tongs. Yet this 270-year-old
cutlery manufacturer based in Solingen, Germany, makes all of these items and more.
In 1731, knife maker Johann Peter Henckels registered the "twin" symbol,
now synonymous with heirloom-quality knives,
making it one of the oldest trademarks in
the world. Henckels pioneered the introduction of quality-control
procedures in the cutlery industry and still
adheres to exacting standards--combined with
leading-edge technology and development--to
create its superior products. Always an industry innovator, Henckels developed no-rust, acid-resistant stainless-steel
blades by using a mix of carbon and stainless
steel. His company was the first to produce
dishwasher-safe knives with molded polypropylene
handles that are both ergonomic and hygienic.
It has also introduced a series of knives
coated with Magna Dur, creating blades that remain permanently
sharp without the need for resharpening.
This tradition of innovation and commitment
to excellence gives Henckels its reputation as the leader in the international
cutlery market.

Henckels' Sintermetal Component
Technology
(SCT), allows three different
grades of steel
to be combined to form a single
piece, fusing
together the blade, bolster,
and tang. What
does this mean to the Professional
Chef?
A strong, high-quality knife
that will last
a lifetime--and says you mean
business in
the kitchen! |
