ACF Culinary Team 2000 USA Takes First Place, Gold Medal in IGEHO Cold Food Competition in Basel, Switzerland


Saint Augustine, FL December 1, 1999 - The American Culinary Federationís Culinary Team 2000 USA won First Place and earned a Gold Medal in the Cold Food competition at the IGEHO Salon Culinaire Mondial (World Culinary Salon) in Basel, Switzerland November 19 - 24, 1999.

ACF Team USA 2000 is led by Team Manager Ed Leonard, CMC, AAC, Team Captain Alfonso Contrisciani, CMC, and Apprentice Team Captain Sigfried Eisenberger, CEC, AAC.
Team members are: Darrin Aoyama; Jill Bosich; Derin Moore, CWC; Susan Notter; John K. Bell, CC; John D. Hamme; Charles Carroll, CEC; Daniel Scannell, CEC. Team coaches include Thomas Vaccaro, Michael Beriau, CEC, AAC; Daniel Hugelier, CMC; and Keith Coughenour. Team USA also won a Silver Medal in the Hot Foods competition and finished sixth place in the overall competition.


The results of the national team competitions were as follows.
In the Cold Food competition, Gold medal winners included: USA (first place), Sweden (second place), Switzerland (third place), Germany, Canada, South Africa, Singapore, and Scotland. Silver medal winners included: Italy, Holland and Finland. Japan was awarded a Diploma.


In the Hot Food competition, Gold Medal winners included: Sweden (first place), Singapore (second place), Switzerland (third place), Germany, and Canada. Silver medal winners were: USA, South Africa, Scotland, Japan, Finland, and Italy. Holland won a Bronze medal.

The overall team standings put Sweden in first place, followed by Singapore in second and Switzerland in third. The top six teams were rounded out with Germany in fourth, Canada in fifth and USA in sixth.

In the individual competition, three ACF chefs won medals. Rick Potter, CEC, AAC, and Brian Sode, CEC, both took home Gold medals and James McCallister, CEC, was awarded a Silver.

ACF Culinary Team USA 2000 is the official national team and will represent the United States in upcoming competitions around the world and at the prestigious IKA/Culinary Olympics next September in Berlin, Germany. Team USA is sponsored by Chef Revival USA, Inc., the Club Managers Association of America, Cuisinart, Maryland Seafood, Uncle Benís and Villeroy & Boch.
